BS VI Cars

What is BS6? What is the need of this?
BS6 is nothing but the emission standard of Indian Government like EU6 For Europe.
The main aim of this standard is to limit the air pollutants which are emitted by the internal combustion engine.

This standard is based on the Europe standards and it came to picture since 2000
Indian governement enforced BS4 in April 2017 for the entire country. Now it has skipped the BS5 and made it more stringent by directly imposing BS6.
By 2020 all the vehicles needs to be conformed with the new standard. This has an huge impact on both the automotive manufacturers as well as the buyers.

Difference between the two stages:
Sulphur content is one of the major difference between BS4 and BS6.
Suplhur content allowed in BSVI is 10ppm(parts per million) whereas it was 50ppm in BSIV. The Particulate matter which is esseentially the carbon particles is expected to be reduced by 80% in case of diesel cars.

The new regulation also aims to reduce the Nitogen oxides by 70% in case of diesel cars and 25% in case of petrol cars.
OBD(On board Diagnostics) which was introduced by US has been made mandotary for all the vehicles with this new pollution regulation.

This is going to impact the OEM as they need to invest a lot of money in Indian market for research. And also to meet the deadline. And for the buyers it might have an cost issue due to the improved use of technology. The fuel for BS6 is also expected to have a shoot in the price. However it is the responsibilty of each one of us to protect the mother nature. So Lets all join together and save the world from threat.
